Ok, so I know it isn't over yet, but we are well into week #2 here in Australia. It's still a little hard to believe that we're here. There are many similarities with the cultures, but there are some differences with the languages. Because of this, we have begun to compile out own "Aussie Dictionary" and I thought that I could share my new found knowledge with all of you!! First of all, my new favorite saying is "no worries" (and that's why I names my blog this). I am so bringing that saying back woth me to the States, so don't be surprised when I say it all of the time. So anyways, here's our dictionary:
No worries: It's alright, no big deal
Star jumps: Jumping jacks
Rubber: Eraser (it's weird the first million times you hear a child ask for a rubber during class!
Skipping: Jumping rope
Red Rover: A form of tag
Maths: Math
Spellings: Spelling
Good on you: Good for you
Toilet: Bathroom
Tuckshop: Lunch and lunch money
That's all for now, but I'm sure I'll add more later. Well, it's about time for me to get ready for school, so as for now, I['m signing off!!

The 1st week

This first week has been incredible!! We were picked up from the airport by Peter and Kathy, our Australian family. They took us to our new apartment and showed us around town. They took us to our school, Newmarket Primary State School last Monday morning and introduced us to everyone.
Peter was our contact to the school as well and he is working hard to make this the best educational and cultural experience as well. Yesterday (10/21) Peter and Kathy took us up the Sunshine Coast. It was absolutely gorgeous. I will post pictures tomorrow (or maybe later tonight) of the beach. I've definitely never seen waves like this on the Atlantic Ocean. We were even told that they weren't as high as normal. It really tossed me round a bit, but it was a lot of fun.
Today we had Professional Development at school. It wasn't to bad, and after grocery shopping, we came home to watch some movies. I think that we're all a little homesick and so watching the movies and relaxing was just what the Dr. ordered.
I just wanted to thank all of my family and friends for all the love and support you have given me. I miss you and love you all!!!
